Additional information

Confidentiality and Data Protection Act
The practice complies with the Data Protection Acts of 1998 and gives you the right of access to any information that the practice holds about you on manual or computerised records. We ask you for personal information so that you can receive appropriate care and treatment. We ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times by all members of our team. However, in order to manage services and improve the quality of care that we provide, we share medical information with hospital doctors, the Scottish Executive Health Department and our Primary Care Trust. Whenever possible this information is anonymous. Information is not shared with any third party outwith the Health Service, such as solicitors, insurance companies or employers without your consent.

Confidentiality - Under 16s
We provide a confidential service to all of our patients, including under 16s. This means that you can tell others about your consultation, but we won't.
Even if you are under 16 you can be sure that anything you discuss with any member of this practice - family doctor, nurse or receptionist, will stay confidential. Nothing will be said to anyone - including parents, other family members, care workers or tutors - without your permission.
The only reason why we might have to consider passing on confidential information without your permission, would be to protect you or someone else from serious harm. We would always try to discuss this with you first.
If you are being treated elsewhere, for example at a hospital, it is best if you allow the doctor or nurse to inform the practice of any treatment you are receiving.

If you have any worries about confidentiality, please feel free to ask a member of staff.

Patient Responsibilities
Should a patient be rude or abusive to any of our doctors, nurses or reception staff, we reserve the option to remove them from our list of patients. Violent or threatening behaviour will not be tolerated. Any patients behaving in this way will be removed from our list of patients and the police may be involved if necessary.

Complaints
We try our best to make sure that our practice runs smoothly, safely and efficiently. Should this not occur and you feel you have a complaint, please ask to speak to our practice manager, Lorraine Greenwood, who will do her best to solve any problems informally. If this cannot be done we ask you to make a written complaint following the complaints procedure advertised in our waiting area. We will acknowledge receipt of your complaint and investigate the problem. We would hope to provide a full written response within 10 working days. We hope that you will be satisfied with our response. If not the practice manager will provide advice to enable you to contact the complaints department at Greater Glasgow Primary NHS Care Trust.
