Routine appointments
Telephone 531 6901 between 8.30am and 6pm. Our reception staff will do their best to offer you an appointment with the doctor or nurse of your choice at a time to suit you. If you are unable to keep an appointment please inform us so that we can free your appointment slot. The first hour of the morning can be busy, especially on Mondays, so if possible leave routine calls until later. To keep the appointment system running smoothly, we ask that you attend appointments punctually and give at least 24 hours notice if you have to cancel an appointment.
Extended Opening Hours
We are now offering additional appointments from 7.30am on Wednesday and Thursday mornings and until 8pm on Monday evenings.
Please note that opening times after 6pm and before 8am are for pre-booked GP appointments ONLY, and that no reception or nursing staff will be available outwith normal opening times of 8am to 6pm
House Calls
Nowadays it is generally considered by the medical profession that the best and safest place to treat patients is in the surgery where you can be examined and treated most effectively. House calls are therefore available only to patients who are housebound or extremely unwell.
Urgent appointments
If you have a problem requiring urgent attention, phone 531 6901, before 10am if possible. Your call may be passed to our triage nurse who will assess your problem so that you can be given the correct treatment promptly. We have appointments available for emergencies each day so that a doctor can always be seen without delay. Please note that you may not always be able to see the doctor of your choice at short notice.
Out of hours
If you need medical attention outwith normal surgery opening times, ie. between 6pm and 8am, telephone NHS 24 on 08454 242424. They will assess your problem and give you advice, or ask you to attend the out of hours medical centre at the Victoria Infirmary. In an emergency, for instance a severe injury, chest pain or collapse, ring 999.
Repeat prescriptions
For those who are on long-term treatment and need a new prescription, please ask at the reception desk or choose the 24hr prescription line when you call the surgery. We offer a delivery service with our local chemists. We would be grateful for 48 hours notice. A detailed leaflet is available from our reception.
Telephone enquiries
If you feel that your problem could be dealt with over the phone, please call reception between 11am and 12 noon and ask to speak to one of our clinicians.
Results
Your test results will be available over the telephone once they have been assessed by a doctor. Please phone reception after 11am when we have more time to deal with your enquiry.
