Services offered by the McColl Medical Practice include:
New patient medicals. Patients wishing to join the practice are given an appointment with the practice nurse for a complete check-up. This allows us to make a record of your past medical problems and screen you for ill health.
We offer many clinics and services, including antenatal, child health, immunisation, cervical cytology, well woman, well man, asthma, diabetic and travel. We can also refer you to our chiropodist, dietician, speech therapist and dentist. You may book an appointment for these services at reception, or in some cases you will be referred by your doctor or nurse.
We provide a full range of contraceptive services, including coils and implants.
If English is not your first language and you require an interpreter, we can arrange this for you when you are making an appointment. We are advised that it is best practice to use medical interpreters and not family members.
We also have access to psychologists and counsellors.
In addition to traditional medical treatment we also offer acupuncture and homeopathy.
We are a training practice for GP registrars. This means that fully qualified doctors who have spent at least 3 years working in hospitals work under supervision in the practice for 12 months to gain experience before starting their own practice. We also teach medical students and nurses, who may occasionally be present as observers. You will always be informed of their presence and will be given the opportunity to say "no" without embarrassment.
